Octopus Festival at Nees Kydonies

To the northwest of Thermi Spa Town, specifically at the village of Nees Kydonies, the Octopus Festival is held on an annual basis in the beginning of August. This seaside village is famous all over Greece for its fresh fish and seafood caught every day by the local fishermen boats (“kaikia”, caïques), but most notably its delicious octopuses. The Festival includes traditional musical and dance performances, night-long merriment, lots of ouzo and fresh octopus meze.
