Mesotopos

Description

Mesotopos is a village, southwest of Lesbos at a distance of 74 kilometers from the capital Mytilini. It is a traditional settlement, with narrow cobbled streets and houses with tiled roofs. It probably got its name because it is right in the middle of the distance between the settlements of Agra and Eresou. Its inhabitants are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, processing of agricultural products and tourism. The port of Mesotopos is Tavari with its picturesque sandy beach and a small port that accommodates the fishing boats of the area. Near Tavari are the beaches of Chroussos, known for its crystal clear waters, and Podaras with its impressive landscape of volcanic rocks that surrounds a small fertile plain.
