Pterounda

Pterounda is a small semi-mountainous settlement on the southern slope of a hill, in the western side of Lesvos, with an altitude of 256 m, 70 km from Mytilini. This village seems to have been founded during the Ottoman years, maybe as far back as the Venetian period. The initial name was Fterounda, due to the abundance of the “fterga” plant growing in this area.
