Skala Polichnitou

Skala Polichnitou is located a few kilometers to the north of the town with the same name, 50 km to the west of Mytilini. Both the beach and the sea bottom are covered with sand, yet some spots may have pebbles. There is also sparse tamarisk tree vegetation. The beach is not organized, yet it does offer some tourist service facilities such as showers, changing booths, trash cans and containers. There are some hotels, refreshment spots, restaurants, retail shops, permanent resident and vacationer homes. The wider area has many farms and groves, mainly olive trees and sea salt beds (Alykes Polichnitou). The place combines both urban zones with grazing lands for animal pastures.
