The Vathylimnos Waterfall

Between the settlements of Pterounda and Hidira there is the small but very beautiful Vathylimnos Waterfall. Its water runs down from the island’s sole black pine forest on the mountain range of Profitis Ilias (alt. 799 m). The Vathylimnos Waterfall was formed along a rift opened up by running lava 16.5 to 21.5 million years ago.
