Tsamakia Beach

Tsamakia Beach is a municipally-run beach just a few dozen meters away from the waterfront and it is the best choice for those who do not want to move far away from the center of Mytilini. To the northwest the Castle of Mytilini overlooks the beach, while to the southwest there is the rest of the city with its central harbor. It has organized installations, such as umbrellas, reclining beach chairs, changing booths, showers and beach volley courts. Tsamakia also has a beach bar for coffee and snacks. Both the shoreline and the sea bottom are covered with pebbles. The shore has some tamarisk tree vegetation. This beach has been awarded with a Blue Flag since 2015. It also has historic significance since the pine forest further off was an execution ground of WWII Greek resistance fighters at the hands of the Nazis.
