The Nykhtera Waterfall at Klapados

Klapados is an abandoned farming village with major historical significance since that was the site of the last victorious battles of the Hellenic Armed Forces against the Ottomans in December 1912 in the efforts to liberate Lesvos. Very well hidden inside the forest surrounding the village, Nykhtera Waterfall flows with waters dropping from a 16 m precipice forming a small pond. The water continues its flow towards Kalloni Bay after joining the greater Tsiknias river. The steep precipice was formed along a fault cutting through the wider area.
