The Pine Resin Museum at Ambeliko

The Pine Resin Museum is located in the courtyard space of Aghios Nikolaos at Ambeliko in an area donated by Dimitrios Karlaganis and Emmanuel Kaldis. It was founded in 1995 on the initiative of Father Eftstratios Kakabouras and the contributions of the villagers. This exhibition is organized in three collections: folklore, ecclesiastical and the collection of resin. The folklore collection contains 1,660 items which document the history of the village. Indicatively, large ceramic containers and mill stones, coins, agricultural tools, rifles, musical instruments, household implements etc. The ecclesiastical collection presents various liturgical objects and vestments, Psalters, books of folk Lesvian and Byzantine music and wood-carved rhipidia. The pine resin collection is a unique museum collection in Greece. The visitors have the opportunity to peruse the history of resin collection and to be educated about the collection and everyday life of pine resin extraction. This hall exhibits resin collection tools, old and rare photographs from resin collection and the Resin Collective archives (1929-1967).
