The “Ouzo World” Museum of the Isidoros Arvanitis Plomari Liquor Maker

On the outskirts of Plomari, in the middle of a wonderful olive grove, the installations of the ouzo distillery are located producing and bottling the famous Plomari Ouzo owned by Isidoros Arvanitis along with the “Ouzo World” Museum, a space full of alluring secrets and aromas. This Museum promotes the traditional craft of ouzo making, the mainstay of Plomari for many, many years.

The museum collection includes distillation and bottling objects, such as old copper alambics, bottle capping machines, distilled liquid receptacles, labeling machines, and ouzo making instruments, such as alcoholmeters, thermometers, transport containers, serving and storage accessories, box labels, scales, and historic ouzo bottles.

At “Ouzo World” visitors may:

  • be educated about the history of ouzo.
  • touch, feel and smell the ouzo fruits and herbs.
  • attend the entire distillation ritual traditionally carried out in eighteen hand-made copper alambics.
  • tour the bottling and packaging premises with state-of-the-art technology and full automation.
  • travel into the past and the tradition of our national aperitif through an intriguing collection of museum exhibits.
  • discover herbs and fruits of the Lesvian nature that go into making this distinctive drink, such as Lisvori anise.
